The strategic projects are in Naas, Maynooth, Celbridge and Leixlip
A series of strategic projects in Naas, Maynooth, Celbridge and Leixlip are set to unlock significant residential development and support growing communities.
The announcement has been made by Housing Minister James Browne.
The development of a new pedestrian bridge at Naas Harbour and improved links to the Naas Northwest Quadrant will strengthen connections between the town centre and a major new residential and mixed-use district.
This initiative will help unlock the potential of the Naas Northwest Quadrant, which has capacity for approximately 4,000 residential units.
The proposed Naas Inner Relief Road will link the R445 Dublin Road with the R410 Blessington Road, will improve traffic movement through the town and supporting future residential growth.
The project is expected to directly unlock lands for approximately 850 residential units.
In Leixlip, the upgrade of Captain’s Hill will improve connectivity between Confey and Leixlip.
The project is expected to directly unlock lands for approximately 1,750 residential units and indirectly support a further 1,000 residential units.
In Celbridge, the proposed Hazelhatch Mobility Corridor will provide a new road connection between Clane Road and Louglinstown Road, including a new bridge crossing of the River Liffey and enhanced walking and cycling facilities.
The project is expected to directly unlock lands for approximately 1,719 residential units and indirectly support a further 1,582 residential units.
The first phase of the Maynooth Outer Orbital Road will connect Moyglare Road and Crewhill with Kilcock Road, providing essential infrastructure to support the town’s continued expansion.
The project is expected to directly unlock lands for approximately 1,126 residential units, while future phases are expected to facilitate a further 3,448 residential units.
Collectively, these projects have the potential to support the delivery of more than 11,000 homes across the county.
The developments have been welcomed by Kildare North TDs from Fianna Fáil including Naoise O' Cearúil and Higher Education Minister James Lawless as well as Fine Gael TD Joe Neville.
