The incident happened the Estelle Gala outlet on Thursday evening at around 9pm.
A man, wearing a balaclava and brandishing a handgun, entered the premises and threatened staff.
A sum of money was stolen.
Today, Gardai detained a man in his 20s in connection with the investigation.
He is being held at Athy Garda Station, under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
He may be detained for up to 48 hours.
