May not be fastest route available
Google Maps has announced a new feature on its app, which shows drivers the least carbon-intensive route to travel, to get to their destination.
The route provided may not always be the fastest, but will have the least stop-start traffic.
The route will also have the least inclines and the smoothest drive.
The function will be available in Europe from January.
Google estimates it will reduce carbon emissions by 1 million tons per year.
Now @GoogleMaps will help you make more sustainable choices when getting from A to B with new eco-friendly routes, expanded bike- and scooter-share options and lite navigation for biking (coming soon). See what’s new → https://t.co/O8ON744N1J #GoogleSustainability pic.twitter.com/OslBJl5nz3
