Mr. Spears said circumstances have changed
The conservatorship that has controlled the life of Britney Spears could be coming to an end after 13 years.
The singer's father, Jamie, has filed a petition to scrap the legal arrangement - saying circumstances have changed.
The mother of-two has tried to remove him from the role twice in the last two years.
In August, 69 year-old Jamie agreed to step down from his role, as conservator of his daughter's estate - saying he did not want a "public battle".
In a court filing, lawyers for Mr. Spears noted there were "no actual grounds" for his suspension or removal.
39 year-old Britney has previously described the legal arrangement, controlling her affairs, as humiliating and abusive.
Mr. Spears says he's been the target of "unjustified attacks" but is preparing for an "orderly transition".
A judge will make the final decision.
Mr. Spears has always strongly denied exploiting his daughter.
