1.7 million people live in the city
A Covid-19 lockdown in New Zealand's largest city has been extended for another week.
Auckland will stay at Alert Level 4, with everywhere else in Level 2 until September 21st.
There are currently 955 cases, with 21 people in hospital.
The restrictions in the city, on 1.7 million people, are to contain the spread of the Delta variant.
Authorities have confirmed 33 cases to date.
The country had been largely Covid-19 free, until an outbreak imported from Australia, prompted the lockdown on the 17th of August.
Restrictions in the rest of the country, have since been eased.
