Ukraine's State Emergency Services says 34 people have also been injured

12 people have died following Russia's overnight attacks on Kyiv.

Ukraine's State Emergency Services says 34 people have also been injured, as responders continue working at the strike sites in the capital.

Tomorrow (21 August) has been declared a day of mourning in memory of the victims of the large-scale attack.

Ukraine had yesterday approved Yevhenii Khmara as the new defence minister.

He'll take the place of Mykhailo Fedorov who was controversially sacked by the Ukrainian president, and challenged Volodymyr Zelenskyy to hold wartime elections.
