Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele made history with the lowest ever rounds in a US Open while Rory McIlroy is three behind them after a day of low scoring at LA Country Club.

2011 winner Rory McIlroy heads the Irish challenge on 5 under par in Los Angeles.

Shane Lowry and Seamus Power have work to do to make the cut from 2 over, while Padraig Harrington and amateur Matt McClean are 3 over par.
