Madigan Announces Retirement From Rugby

Former Ireland out half calls time on his career

Ian Madigan has announced his retirement from professional rugby.

The former Ireland out-half was most recently with Ulster, but his game time was limited in recent seasons due to injury.

Madigan made 31 appearances for his country and played at the 2015 World Cup.

At provincial level, he won two Heineken Champions Cup titles with Leinster.

He confirmed his retirement in a statement on Instagram and said his 31 Ireland caps between 2013 and 2016 were the standout of his career.

"Without doubt the highlight of my career was representing our great island of Ireland, in particular at the World Cup in 2015," Madigan said.
