A hugely important weekend for Kildare hurling.

Following recent wins over Carlow and Laois, the Brian Dowling managed senior hurlers play Down tomorrow for a place in the Joe McDonagh Cup final.

A reminder about the launch of the Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championship, The Intermediate Football Championship, and the Tom Cross Junior Football Championship. 

This will take place this evening at 6:25pm in Joe Mallon Motors, Sallins Road, Naas and will be broadcast Live on KFM as part of the Weekend Sports Preview show.

Delegates at last night's Camogie Association Special Congress voted in favour of a motion to allow players to wear shorts in competitive matches.

The issue had come to the fore in recent weeks, with players voicing their preference for a choice between shorts and skorts.

98 percent of delegates voted in favour of the proposal - meaning players can wear shorts if they wish in this weekend's championship matches.

There's a busy evening ahead in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division with all ten teams in action.

The top two meet at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium, where Derry City host leaders Shamrock Rovers.

It's third against fourth at Sullivan and Lambe Park, with Bohemians away to Drogheda United.

Elsewhere, Galway United host Cork City, St Pat's take on Waterford and Shelbourne meet Sligo Rovers.
