The monies will support a range of projects and training programmes.

Kildare Sports Partnership projects have received combined funding of €115,000.

The money, in several tranches, has been released by the Dormant Accounts Fund

€43,680 has been allocated to the  Monasterevin Sports Hub and €21,955 to the  Athy Sports Hub

KSP has also been granted funds for youth leadership projects, volunteer training and sports inclusion disability training.

Kildare South Fine Gael TD and Minister of State, Martin Heydon says "“Over the past year we have seen the huge importance that Irish people place on sport and physical activity and the many benefits it can have on our mental and physical wellbeing. While restrictions have been difficult for all groups in society it has been particularly detrimental for people with a disability and for older adults. I look forward to seeing the impact of this funding throughout the year and encourage people to engage with Kildare Sports Partnership and other local sports clubs to reap the many benefits of being active. Dormant Accounts funding makes a real difference to individuals and communities right across the country.”
