Waterford’s Kelyn Cassidy was devastated to lose his Middleweight quarter-final to Ukrainian Oleksandr Khyzhniak of Ukraine.
Heavyweight Jack Marley secured at least a bronze medal, and booked a spot in the semi-finals, where the winner will secure Olympic qualification, by beating his Croatian opponent 4-1.
Marley is the sixth Irish medal winner at these Games.
Last night the Men’s Rugby Sevens team won gold, with Sarah Lavin claiming hurdles bronze earlier in the week, and Jack Woolley winning silver in Taekwondo.
