President Michael D Higgins is among those paying tribute to The Script guitarist Mark Sheehan.

The 46 year old passed away after a short illness in hospital.

He co-founded the The Script with childhood friend Danny O'Donohue in 2001.

The band had six number one Albums in Ireland, five of which also topped the UK charts.
