The Runners Of The First Ever Dublin City Half Marathon Had Some Challenging Winds Along The Way

Around 12,000 people took part in today's event.

The runners of the the first-ever Dublin City Half Marathon had sun and some challenging winds today.

It all began at 8am this morning, and around 12,000 people took part in today's event.

The 21.1-kilometre course travelled through the north side of the city and along the coast road before wrapping up on Guild Street.

Killian Mooney, from Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club, won the race finishing the course in 1 hour 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

The first woman to cross the finish line at the Dublin City Half Marathon today also found the coastal winds a big challenge.

She completed the race in 1hour, 17 minutes and 59 seconds.

Nicola Sheridan from Bohermeen AC says while she still wants to improve her race time, she's proud of her progress:
