Teenage Boy Drowns After Getting Into Difficulty On River Barrow In Carlow

The young man was one of three teenagers swimming at Cloghristick, when he got into difficulty.

A 17-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in Carlow.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident on the River Barrow at 6.30 yesterday evening.

The young man was one of three teenagers swimming at Cloghristick, when he got into difficulty.

A search - involving the fire service, Gardaí and ambulance service - was launched.

The teenage boy was found at 11.30 last night by the Garda Water Unit.
