Later today, Raymond Shorten will also be sentenced for two separate incidents where he raped two female passengers in his taxi
Dublin taxi driver, Raymond Shorten has been jailed for 13 years for raping a seven-year-old girl over a decade ago.
The 50-year-old, of Melrose Crescent in Clondalkin, is also due to be sentenced later today for raping two female passengers in his taxi in 2022.
Following an eight-day trial, Shorten was found guilty of raping the girl on two separate occasions when she was seven or eight years old.
He was also convicted of sexually assaulting her in his car.
Judge Kerida Naidoo said Shorten abused the seven-year-old when he knew she was very vulnerable and he couldn’t have cared less about the long-term pain and suffering he was inflicting on her.
In an update minutes ago, a decision has been made to adjourn Raymond Shorten’s sentencing for raping two women in his taxi until Thursday.
The judge decided he wanted to consider the sentence handed down this morning before he proceeds.
