The Taoiseach is calling for society to pause and reflect on driving habits in the wake of Garda Kevin Flatley's death.

The 49-year-old father-of two was struck by a motorcycle while carrying out a speed checkpoint in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Garda Flatley joined the force in 1999, and the Roads Policing Unit since 2018.

Books of condolence have opened in Swords County Hall and Blanchardstown Civic Offices this morning.
