Survey Shows Irish People Think Less Of Britain Since Brexit

95% says view of the UK has dropped

A new survey has found that more than half of people in Ireland think less of Britain since Brexit.

The Ireland Thinks survey found that 63% of people's views of Britain has changed since the UK voted to leave the EU.

The new poll for thejournal.ie has found that Britain's reputation has been damaged by the country's vote to leave the European Union.

It found that 60pc of people in Ireland's opinion of the UK has changed since Brexit with 95% saying it has changed for the worse.

A changed perspective is present in virtually every cohort of the survey - right across the age groups, locations and genders.

After voting to leave the EU in 2016, Britain withdrew from the bloc officially on 31 January 2020, followed by a transition period that finished at the end of the year.

Since then, a major sticking point in post-Brexit talks has been the Northern Ireland Protocol

Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney has said reaching an agreement on the Protocol before Christmas is unrealistic at this stage
