Sinn Féin Could Change Opposition To Special Criminal Court

File image: Rolling News

Party holding Ard Fheis in DCU

Sinn Féin is debating its longstanding opposition to the Special Criminal Court today.

Their leader Mary Lou McDonald says she recognises there's a need for a non-jury court in Ireland.

At its Ard Fheis in DCU today the party will vote on a motion to change their position.

The Sinn Féin leader says the court still needs reform.

Crime Journalist Paul Williams says change would represent a massive policy U turn.

He adds that jurors can be intimated in regular courts, and have been in the past.
