Tomorrows Kildare Today and Irish Music Scene will both pay tribute to him
Shane MacGowan has died at the age of 65.
His wife Victoria Mary Clarke confirmed the news today.
President Michael D Higgins said that 'Shane will be remembered as one of music’s greatest lyricists. So many of his songs would be perfectly crafted poems, if that would not have deprived us of the opportunity to hear him sing them'.
He was best known for being the frontman of 'The Pogues', with their 1988 song 'Fairytale Of New York' featuring Kirsty MacColl being one of their best-known songs.
Tomorrow's Kildare Today from 9am-11am and Irish Music Scene from 7pm-9pm will both pay tribute to him.
