Publicly Funded Buyout Of Ó Modhráin Hall In Newbridge Expected To Lead To Private Sale

According to the Department of Housing, acquired properties are usually offered for private sale to those who in return commit to bringing the property back into residential use.

Kildare County Council has completed the compulsory purchase of Ó Modhráin Hall in Newbridge.

The transfer of ownership took effect earlier this month

Social Democrats Councillor Chris Pender, who had sought an update on delays, said the hall, once zoned for community use, will now form part of Newbridge’s wider regeneration plans.

He said: While I recognise that under the URDF Call 3 funding stream the property was purchased through, it is intended to be sold on, I firmly believe it can and should do far more for our town."

The third round of URDF was announced in January last year and specifically targeted at addressing long term vacancy and dereliction across cities and towns and at the provision of residential accommodation.
