Nearly One In Three Irish People Believe The Government Exaggerated Covid-19 Deaths

The study found Irish people had a greater willingness to comply with covid rules, than our European counterparts.

Almost a third of people in Ireland believe the government exaggerated Covid-19 deaths.

That's according to a new survey of 12,000 people carried across six European countries.

This survey shows that 1 in 3 people in Ireland think the Covid death toll was exaggerated by government.

In Poland that figure stands at 43% while just 24% in Norway were suspicious of the deaths recorded.

Despite this, the poll of 2,000 Irish people found most of us trust Covid vaccines

Three quarters here said it was true that nearly all scientists agreed that the vaccine were safe, the highest of the six countries surveyed,

It also shows a low prevalence of belief in pandemic conspiracy theories - 1 in 10 here believe covid symptoms are linked with 5G, compared with 17% in the UK.

The study, which was carried out by UCD as part of the Euopean Commission Horizon Project found Irish people also showed greater willingness to comply with covid rules, than our european counterparts.
