Murder Investigation Launched Following Death Of Dublin Man In Boston

Officials have ruled he died from blunt force trauma

A man, originally from Dublin, has died following an assault in Boston.

A murder investigation has been launched after he was attacked on St Patrick's Day.

46 year old Barry Whelan was originally from Dublin and had been working as a carpenter in a suburb of Boston.

According to police he was standing near an ATM in Downtown Boston on St Patrick's Day when he received a blow to the head..

He was placed on life support but has since passed away.

Officials have ruled he died from blunt force trauma and have ruled the case as a homicide.

His boss said Barry had just wanted to go out and have one pint as it was St Patrick's Day.

He described him as a gentle soul who worked very hard.
