CCTV footage shows the Santa being unplugged and taken away from the front of Gleeson's butchers in Navan Shopping Centre on Monday.

A butcher shop has launched an appeal for the return of a life-size Santa statue which was taken from a shopping centre in Co Meath.

CCTV footage shows the Santa being unplugged and taken away from the front of Gleeson's butchers in Navan Shopping Centre on Monday.

The 'motion sensitive' Santa has been displayed outside the shop each Christmas for more than 20 years, and is a huge hit with children visiting the shopping centre.

The shop is appealing to the person who took the statue to return it.
