Over 300 witnesses are expected to be spoken to by Gardaí.
A senior officer has been appointed to investigate the violence seen in Dublin City Centre last Thursday night.
Assistant Garda Commissioner Cliona Richardson confirmed the appointment as she provided an update to the Dublin City Joint Policing Committee.
She says "thousands" of hours of CCTV have to be reviewed, while every Garda on duty in Dublin City last Thursday will have to give statements on what they saw.
