Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a man in his fifties died in a hit-and-run near Ballyjamesduff in County Cavan.
The body of the male pedestrian was found on the N3 near Billis Bridge sometime between 10pm on Thursday night and 12 noon Friday
His body has been removed to the mortuary at Cavan General Hospital.
Following an examination of the area, it was identified that the male was struck by a vehicle which failed to remain at the scene.
Gardaí in Bailieboro are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident to come forward, and to any person who is aware of a vehicle with unexplained damage, in the wider Cavan/North Meath area.
Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who may have video who were travelling in the area on Thursday and noon Friday to make this material available to Gardaí.
