A man has been charged in relation to the investigation into the death of an 83-year-old man in Co Mayo.
The man's body was discovered by emergency services personnel dealing with a house fire near Castlebar on Sunday evening.
He has been named locally as John Brogan and lived alone in a cottage at Pheasant Hill, Cloonkeen, Castlebar.
He had been shot a number of times.
A man in his 60s was arrested at the scene and was being held at Castlebar Garda Station.
He is due in court later today.
Local sources have suggested Mr. Brogan was recently acquitted of abuse allegations.
