Man (41) Injured During Explosion At Stryker In Cork Dies

The HSA launched an investigation following the fire.

A 41-year-old man who was injured in an explosion at Stryker's Carrigtwohill plant in Cork in April has died.

John Murphy was brought to Cork University Hospital on April 18th before being transferred to Dublin.

The man was rushed to CUH at around 1pm on the day of the incident after suffering severe burns following what's believed to be a titanium explosion on the roof of the American multi-national's Anngrove building.

He underwent emergency surgery and was put on life support.

His family released at a statement following the fire, describing him as a kind, mild mannered family man with a loving baby, young child and stepson who were his world.

The HSA launched an investigation following the fire.

Stryker and the HSA have both been contacted for comment.

Staff at Stryker were told of the tragic news this morning.
