Irish Novelist Edna O'Brien Laid To Rest Today

Acclaimed Irish writer passed away two weeks ago

Tributes have been paid to the write Edna O'Brien who has been laid to rest in Clare today.

President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina were among those attending the service in Tuamgraney.

O'Brien's works frequently explore the inner lives of women and their struggles with relationships and societal expectations. Her debut novel, The Country Girls (1960), is recognised for breaking the silence on sexual and social issues during a repressive era in Ireland following the Second World War.


The writer passed away two weeks ago in London.
