Ireland Has Come Bottom Of The Table In A New Report On Investment In Education

Primary school class sizes also exceeded the EU average, which coincides with last week's news that Kildare has the largest class size in the country

Ireland has come bottom of the table in a new report on investment in education.

The Government spent 2.8 per cent of GDP on education in 2021 compared to the average of 5.7 per cent according to research from the OECD.

Class sizes at primary level also exceeded the EU average.

This follows last week's publication of the National School Annual Census, which revealed Kildare has the largest class size in the country with an average of 24 pupils per class.
