An increasing number of people are seeking treatment nationwide for complications due to bariatric surgery abroad.
Hospital presentations due to complications after medical treatment abroad are increasing.
It's being discussed today at a Department of Foreign Affairs forum on the provision of good consular assistance.
Professor Helen Heneghan, bariatric surgeon at St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin, says that anyone considering having treatment outside the State needs to research and find an accredited facility.
