Humphreys Stands By Decision Not To Intervene In Case Of Man Killed By Offender On Bail

His family received a state apology from Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan earlier this year, but they say Heather Humphreys wasn't there for them during her time as a local TD and minister.

Heather Humphreys says she could not interfere with the investigation into Shane O'Farrell's death.

The Monaghan man was killed after he was knocked down near his home in Carrickmacross in August 2011 by a man who was out on bail at the time.

The Fine Gael presidential hopeful says she understands Shane's mother Lucia's frustrations, but defended her decision.
