Hospitality Sector Groups Call For Longer Opening Hours, Ahead Of Govt Meeting

Restaurateurs are calling for longer opening hours as more people receive vaccinations against Covid-19.

It's one of the big sticking points for the industry, along with the return of live music.

Groups representing the hospitality sector will meet Government officials tomorrow.

Businesses have seen a huge take up for indoor dining since it reopened last week according to the Restaurants' Association.

However, some of the Covid-19 protocols are proving challenging for restaurants and pubs to implement, says the association's Chief Executive.

In particular, he says the requirement for businesses to check the Digital Covid Certificate on the door is adding extra pressure to a sector that is already understaffed.
