There are fears motorists may be a bit rusty following the prolonged level 5 restrictions.

It comes as new CSO data reveals a significant increase in the volume of traffic on the roads.

Traffic volumes increased by 21 per cent in regional areas the week the 5km travel rule was removed, compared to the previous week.

Chief Superintendent Ray McMahon is urging drivers to be extra cautious when getting back behind the wheel.
