The 73-year-old from Glasnevin, Dublin, has been sent forward for trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Criminal Court next year.
A former Fine Gael councillor has been sent forward for trial accused of possessing child pornography and immigration charges.
73-year-old Dr Bill Tormey of Glasnevin Avenue, Glasnevin in Dublin 11 was served a book of evidence today.
He is accused of knowingly helping a person enter the state whom he knew was an illegal immigrant or a person who intended to seek asylum.
It allegedly happened on August 4th 2021 at Terminal 1 in Dublin Airport.
He also faces charges of knowingly possessing seven images of child pornography at his home on June 6th 2022.
The former Fine Gael councillor has yet to indicate a plea.
Court was told he has been served with a book of evidence and has been sent forward for trial.
He must appear again at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on February 14th.
He's been remanded on bail.
