Father & Daughter Appear In Court Charged With Links To New IRA

A father and daughter have appeared in court in Northern Ireland on charges police have linked to the New IRA.

It follows rioting in Derry city last Thursday while PSNI officers carried out terrorism-related searches.

26 year old Shannon Kelly from Creevagh Heights in Creggan and 48 year Gerard Anthony Kelly from Victoria Place are both charged on four counts that include possession of explosives with intent to endanger life.

The items were seized by police last week as part of an operation in which 16 officers were injured.

Police say they have reason to connect the pair to the paramilitary group, the New IRA.
