The branch chairman said banks are charging for monies sitting in current accounts

Members of South Dublin Credit Union can no longer keep more than €25,000 in a savings account.

In its financial report, the branch chairman said banks are charging for monies sitting in current accounts and the Credit Union are encouraging members to borrow, in order "to survive".

The Irish Times reports current members with excess of 25 thousand euro in their account can no longer increase their savings and if they go below the limit, they will not be able to exceed at a future date.
