A Celbridge man who sued over the circumstances of his birth at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street Dublin has settled a High Court action for €10 million.

His case, according to the Irish Independent, alleged medical failings around his delivery and postnatal care - claims the hospital fully denied.
The settlement, reached through mediation and without an admission of liability, was approved by Mr Justice Paul Coffey, who praised the Hughes family’s decades of dedication.
Outside court, Jonathan’s father John Hughes said the decision brought a sense of “justice" and "closure” after years of struggle, calling it “a very good day for Jonathan.”
He said Jonathan is unaware of the achievement.
