Dublin Airport Asylum Claims: Thousands Arrived With No Or Fake IDs In 2023

In total, 4,712 people made an asylum claim at the Dublin Airport last year, and 4,007 had no or false identity documents.

85 per cent of people who applied for international protection at Dublin Airport in 2023 arrived with either no or false identity documents.

The figures have been supplied by the Department of Justice via a freedom of information request.

Independent Clare TD Michael McNamara says it's a criminal offence to enter the State without valid documents, and says it's shocking the law is not being applied.
