Celebrations Took Place In Dublin To Mark 40 Years Of The Luke Kelly Bridge

The landmark occasion was held in Ballybough this morning.

A celebration took place today to mark 40 years of the Luke Kelly Bridge in Dublin.

The landmark occasion was held in Ballybough this morning to honour the bridge’s history and it's connection to one of Dublin’s most beloved musical icons.

The original renaming ceremony in 1985 was also a momentous occasion, attended by key figures such as the Taoiseach Charles Haughey, The Dubliners, and many of Luke Kelly’s family and friends.

Recalling the day, Bessie McCann, Luke’s sister, says: 'He’d be very moved that the people of Ballybough have remembered him in this way”.
