Childcare Saving Schemes Could Be Extended To Childminders In Budget 2024

Childminders would have to be registered in order for parents to avail of the savings

Childcare savings schemes announced in last year's Budget could be extended to parents with childminders.

The Children's Minister says he's keen to see parents who use childminders benefit from cost cuts.

It comes ahead of the Summer Economic Statement, which will outline the broader parameters of this year's Budget.

Children's Minister Roderic O'Gorman says childminders would have to be registered in order for parents to avail of the savings:

The budget will be a delicate balance of big spending while not fueling inflation, according to the Finance Minister.

The budget surplus is expected to be in the region of 10 billion euro with extra spending of six or seven billion.
