BREAKING: FAI Appoint Former Iceland Manager Heimir Hallgrímsson As New Ireland Manager

His first game in charge will be against England on September 7th

The FAI has this afternoon announced Heimir Hallgrímsson as the new Republic of Ireland manager.

Hallgrímsson, a native of Iceland, managed his home country between 2013 and 2018, helping them qualify for the 2016 World Cup.

After 5 years in charge of Iceland, he went on to manage Al Arabi in the Qatar League for two and a half years and most recently was the manager of Jamaica.

It's been 231 days since Stephen Kenny was sacked as manager of the Republic of Ireland and Hallgrímsson's first game in charge will be against England on the 7th of September.
