There's been a worrying increase in the use of polydrugs where people take several banned substances in one session.

That's one of the findings in a new Ana Liffey Drug Project report for 2020 which will be launched this morning.

It also highlights a major increase in the use of crack cocaine.

Spokesperson, Tony Duffin, says polydrug use is a growing problem:

Demand for addiction services in the mid-west has "never been higher", according to the Ana Liffey Drug Project.

It says 490 people required support last year, compared to an average of 250 per year since 2012.

It notes increased use of crack cocaine in Limerick and Dublin was a "significant problem".
