Employees can avail of in-house supports to protect their financial independence.

Staff at AIB are to be offered ten days paid leave if they are experiencing domestic violence.

The bank says its part of its commitment to provide a work environment that is 'safe and supportive' for all.

Employees experiencing domestic abuse will also be offered five days emergency hotel accommodation at the banks expense, and can avail of in-house supports to protect their financial independence.

Minister for Children, Equality and Integration - Roderic O'Gorman - is welcoming the initiative, which AIB says has been informed by the experience of a staff member who was themself the victim of domestic violence.
