Full refunds offered to those impacted.

Aer Lingus has cancelled some flights to European destinations because there wasn't enough demand from customers.

It's offered a full refund to affected passengers.

Cliona O'Dwyer repots:

"In a statement, Aer Lingus says some of these flights to European destinations have now been cancelled for the rest of 2021.

It says the decision will allow it to focus its capacity on routes where there's the greatest demand.

It adds it plans to fly as full a schedule as possible, driven by demand, following the easing of travel restrictions on the 19th of July.

It says given the situation with international travel prior to the recent Government announcement, it was not possible for it to accurately predict where the demand would be.

The airline says it's sought to provide customers with as much notice of cancellations as possible and a full refund has been offered to those impacted"

Stobart Air has terminated its contract with Aer Lingus.

It says it's ceased trading due to the impact of the pandemic and is now in the process of appointing a liquidator.

It means all Aer Lingus regional flights operated by Stobart have been cancelled.

Aer Lingus is now communicating to customers to advise them of their options for a refund or re-booking.
