n the first ten months of the year 16 per cent of all new cars licensed for the first time were electric or plug-in hybrid.

The number of new cars licensed in October was seven per cent lower than the same month last year,.

CSO figures show just over 3,800 cars were licensed , down from almost 4,200 in October 2020.
