40% Of Ireland's Energy Came From Renewable Sources In 2019.

Ireland had the second worst emissions of greenhouse gases per capita in the EU

Just under 40 per cent of electricity generation in Ireland was from renewable sources in 2019.

The CSO's published environmental Indicators for the country, which also show there was 2.4 billion euro spent on fossil fuel subsidies that year.

Ireland had the second worst emissions of greenhouse gases per capita in the EU in 2019, at 12.1 tonnes of CO2.

That compared to an EU average of 7.9 tonnes.
