29 People Arrested As Gardaí Crackdown On Organised Retail Crime

A crackdown on organised retail crime in one part of Dublin has resulted in 29 people being arrested.

They've been charged and are due in court today.

40 charges are being brought against 25 men and 4 women, aged between 18 and 60, as part of Operation Táirge.

The investigation was targeting incidents of theft, the handling of stolen property, criminal damage and assault on staff in retail premises in the Dublin 7 area.

The 29 individuals are scheduled to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

Another person was given a caution while a second was referred to the juvenile diversion programme.
