270 people in Ireland have applied to become European Space Agency Astronauts.
The application process closed last week, in what was the Agency's first call for new Astronauts in 11 years.
More than 200 people applied for the newly-established astronaut with a physical disability vacancy, including 4 Irish people.
The ESA will now screen the 22,000 applications - with the entire process set to take 18 months.
