Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show University Hospital Limerick was the worst affected by overcrowding this month.

1,962 patients were waiting on trolleys at the facility, which is followed by Cork University Hospital and Sligo University Hospital.

Naas General Hospital had 266 patients waiting on trolleys in the month of November, a decrease in numbers compared to 2022's November report of 286 patients waiting on trolleys.

The INMO says the number of people admitted to hospital without a bed is "far too high" and there's "absolutely no point in waiting until we are mid-crisis to act."
