Plans for a new 92-bed community nursing facility at St Vincent’s Hospital in Athy are progressing, according to Kildare South Labour TD Mark Wall.
Planning permission was granted in 2023, and the project will be delivered in two phases, starting with a 48-bed unit.

The project will be completed in two phases, with the 48-bed unit to the rear of the site to be delivered as part of the first construction phase, while phase two will entail a further 44 beds including two ten-bed dementia units and three associated courtyards over one and two storeys.
Initial works are due to start once the new day care centre is completed.
The development will replace existing prefabricated wings and expand care facilities for older people at St Vincent’s.
